1. Moscow G-20: Finance and Labour Ministers to meet for first time


2. Software giant Microsoft to acquire Finnish handset maker Nokia's handset business for 5.44 billion euros (USD 7.17 billion) in cash, in an effort to strengthen its position in the smartphone market.



3. The 3rd India-Republic of Korea (ROK) Foreign Policy and Security Dialogue (FPSD) was held in Seoul on 2 September 2013.



4. Human Resource Development (HRD) ministry launched the third All India Survey on Higher Education (AISHE)-2012-13.
5. Diana Nyad, 64-year old American long-distance swimmer became the first person to cross Florida Straits from Cuba without any shark cage on 2 September 2013.



6. Punjab deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal was today elected president of ruling Shiromani Akali Dal here for the second time in a row.



7. Anjana Padmanabhan from Bangalore became the first winner of the singing reality show Indian Idol Junior on 1 September 2013. She was crowned by Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan as the winner. The contest was held in Mumbai.



8. President Pranab Mukherjee inaugurated the 11th Asian Pacific Postal Union (APPU) Congress today at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi.



9. Malala Yousafzai, the Pakistani school girl shot in the head in a failed assassination attempt by the Taliban, on Tuesday inaugurated Europe’s biggest public library in Birmingham.



10. Hyundai Motor India (HMIL) today launched its new compact car 'Grand i10' priced between Rs 4.29 lakh and Rs 6.41 lakh as it looks to enhance its position in the country.



11. Master batsman Sachin Tendulkar has been selected for a special ‘Century of Centuries Award’ by the Sports Journalists’Association of Mumbai (SJAM).
